Title: 石墨烯的昨天、今天与明天
Abstract: Graphene, a single-layer hexagonal lattice of carbon atoms, has attracted worldwide attention because of its extraordinary properties. The strong interest in graphene has been sustained by the scalable production of high quality graphene and physical properties in graphene devices. This talk firstly reviews the main progress of graphene from 2004, including physical properties, preparation, and its derivative like graphane, graphene nanoribbons, etc. Then, the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method is described in detail. Until now, almost all CVD grown graphene films produced to date are polycrystalline, whereby grain boundaries, dislocations and intrinsic topological defects, which influence all kinds of physical properties. Finally, we developed the conventional strategies to grow millimeter sized single crystal graphene from low density in order to minimize the effect of grain boundaries. Moreover, we also produced mosaic nanocrystalline graphene films, which also exhibit good conductivity, high carrier mobility and quantum hall effect despite possessing a high density of sinuous grain boundaries comprising of pentagon-heptagon dislocations. This will open up opportunities for exploring a unique way to tune physical properties in graphene through grain boundaries engineering.
